Friday

my train was perfectly on time and lovely lovely [livejournal.com profile] evil_nick and [livejournal.com profile] mirabehn picked me up and took me to their spiffy wonky house which was built in 1664 (i think) and is all slanty everywhere. i hit my head on the ceiling a bit. they fed me tea (WOMEN'S tea no less) which is always good.

then Naomi and Rhiannon arrived and we drank more tea and ate curry and watched Friends. Elly and i did some last minute sewing and then we went to bed.

Saturday

party day! more last minute sewing was done, and some party preparations, then Nick drove us all to reading to meet everyone else. we managed to get everyone into the cinema, and also back to the house where we put up the last minute decorations and sorted out some drinks. and Naomi and Rhiannon started cooking some dinner.

here's who i met:

  • [livejournal.com profile] mirabehn aka Frodo - gorgeous big brown eyes, very very very lovely, completely too nice for her own good, i want to steal her and have her around all the time cos she makes me feel perky and happy

  • [livejournal.com profile] evil_nick aka Eomer - too nice and far too obliging, girly - in the best way a man can be, incredibly thoughtful and sweet and also needs to be stolen for optimum Kathryn feelgood factor

  • [livejournal.com profile] ixwin aka cross dressing female hobbit (lusty hobbit wench) - owns the cutest cuddly pig ever, little and cute ([livejournal.com profile] olinima - she looks kind of like Laura) and very friendly, which is good for people who don't know anyone!

  • Matt aka Gandalf - had a particularly incredibly beard and moustache and hair combo, likes Eddie Izzard (yay) and is supernice

  • [livejournal.com profile] the_alchemist aka Eowyn - has the longest loveliest hair by far, is too talented in too many areas, and is v similar to Polly (this info is for you [livejournal.com profile] olinima since you are the only person who knows Polly...), also has a fab sword

  • [livejournal.com profile] fluffymark aka Arwen - has the pointiest boots i have ever seen and the fluffiest hair, was wearing a spiffing dress and talked about sex all night - even MORE THAN ME!

  • [livejournal.com profile] andrewwyld aka Legolas (crossed with Jareth) - had the most strokeable footwear and the tallest hair (but the people behind in the cinema could see over it), sang Labyrinth songs which endeared him to me muchly, far too clever and most of his jokes went whoosh over my dense little head

  • [livejournal.com profile] gnimmel aka Ent Maiden - very very very pretty indeed, quiet, very pretty, had adorable leaves, and did i mention that she's incredibly pretty? i wish i had talked to her more... (just so i could gaze upon her prettiness...)

  • [livejournal.com profile] purplepiano aka Merry - looks uncannily like a hobbit (apart from the height) seems to be too talented in the field of music and the like

  • [livejournal.com profile] yvesilena - looks like Arwen, very kindly lent me her boots for taking pictures (thank you Yves!), once wrote a story with [livejournal.com profile] the_alchemist about BushBose the EntDog that Elly and I are very keen to read, had to leave early - i was sad about this

  • [livejournal.com profile] angelislington aka Pippin (in 21st century clothes) - more knowledgable about Tolkien than frankly is healthy, did a very good photo taking service (thank you Nevvie), much much louder than me (eee!)

also Naomi and Rhiannon who made a lot of tea and dinner (and second breakfast) and are lovely all over were there but not dressed. then Nic T, Nick P, Mark and Rebecca who i don't know if they have journals or not, but they did not have much party activity (esp Nic T who had gone home cos of poorly lack of wisdom teeth - awww). i hope i didn't forget anyone...

ooof. that might be enough for this post. i will have to type what we actually did tomorrow.

however i would like to once again point out that that i absolutely adore Elly (and Nick). very very very very much INDEED! *love*

i was going in order of people who were somehow related to other people, so Elly and Nick, then people in couples, then other people they knew from uni etc, then other sundry people (like me, but of course i've already met me). it's not in order of spiffiness! plus you have to have a costume to be high up the list *smirks* ;p

    your hair is so cool!

if i'm ever in a LOTR quiz i want you in my team!

Arrghhh I felt so foolish not wearing a costume! Curse the gods for making me lose my Pippin scarf and coat! *sob*
(FOOL of a Took! *kicks self*)

Hehehe next time we should play for cash. Boo yah! *laughs*

Also, next time we must talk more. Yes, it will be done. :)

cash? nooooooooooooooooooooo - i would be vvery very poor.

yes, more talking is good, but overwhelming numbers + me = quiet me.

Make a costume? Ahahahahaha! That's a good one. I can't sew to save my life. Am poor, helpless nekkid Took. ;-)

Gods, me too. I either go totally silent or waaaay over the top. I think I did a bit of both last night. I do not function well in large groups. I think Elly probably noticed, but I tried not to let it show. I did have a wicked time though! Funfunfun. :))

    *huggggggs*

Well, I've been known to do both of those things too - lots! I was kind of over the top a lot of Saturday night, I thought, but I suppose that as host I was kind of supposed to so it was okay...

I think Elly probably noticed, but I tried not to let it show.

Well yes, a little. But you hadn't met anyone before apart from Nick and me so I didn't exactly expect you to be 100% relaxed all the time - I certainly wouldn't have been! I think you're absolutely fantastic and you were lovely at the party and everyone thought you were great, so worry ye not. And in general the guests were most varied in terms of their group-comfort-level, which is kind of how I like it... it gets icky if everyone is fine in large groups except for one or two people, especially because the one or two people is usually ME!/

I did have a wicked time though! Funfunfun. :))

    Eeeeeee! That's good. *hugggggggs*

We must meet up again soon... Oh, and by the way I think you left some CDs? Which we will send to you having possibly had an accident with our CD-writer first... oh what a shame. ;-)

You were absolutely smashing! I didn't think you were overthetop in any way at all, just perfectly wonderful.

Everyone thought I was great? Eeeee! *blushes happily* :D

And yes, you stole my cds! Grrr. Arrgh! Hehehe. :-P

When I said I noticed a little, I mean that once or twice I noticed you being a little ooooogtherearelotsofpeople and quiet, which I kind of understood - and I definitely am not a believer in compulsory jolity at parties. I worried a little at first that you weren't enjoying yourself (because I'm so good at worrying...), but then I picked up a "happy Took" vibe and thought, okay, she's just being quiet, that's fine. And you weren't over the top. You were sometimes adorably bouncy and sometimes quiet and mellow. And completely lovely. :)

Okay, now you've got me thinking about Billeh being naked (not that this is the first time it's happened)... oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Incidentally, I didn't think I could sew at all until I tried making my cloak, and that kind of worked... *grin*

    *stares off into space*

Sorry, what were we talking about? *giggles* :)

You are far too kind to me. Am very pleased to know I wasn't OTT all the time, but just a normal lovely hobbity me. *grins*

It was lovely to have someone else as obsessed as me there. *grin*

    *blinks*
Deary deary me *hangsheadinshame*. I was trying to be good! I was trying not to be a slapper this year. I thought i'd toned it down a lot. I wasn't meaning to flirt and talk about sex. But....but....i was surrounded by lots of cute and pretty people....and it just happened. Me and my hopeless one track mind. Although if certain people there had been single, or i was feeling i bit more confident, things might have been....very interesting *blush*

What is wrong with all night sex, anyhow? ;)

And yay and *hugs* to Nick and Elly!

really? oh i like interesting things...

nothing is wrong with all night sex, but there is a time (all night obviously) and a place for it.

    *hugggggggggggggggggs* to you too. :)

You weren't that bad at all. *grin*

And there was a rather spectacularly high pretty-people content, wasn't there? Like, around 100%, in all your very different ways. :)

*more hugs and DRESS ENVY* ;)

    Yay! Was good, wasn't it?

[livejournal.com profile] mirabehn and [livejournal.com profile] evil_nick certainly are lovely, lovely, lovely people.

Most of [livejournal.com profile] andrewwyld's jokes probably go over most people's heads most of the time - it's just the way he is (and I wouldn't want to change that!)

Did a (very) rough sketch of Bushbose on a train today, which I might scan in later.

ah, as long as they go over everyone's heads... when they started talking about physics i really lost the plot. but i feel better now. thank you :)

oooooh. we must try to find the story!

Yay! Do scan in and post! I'd love to see it.

We must definitely make them put that fic online...

    *hugs*

It was so lovely to see you both! Nick and I are likely to be in Hitchin the weekend of 15th-16th Feb, btw. Any chance of meeting up?

    lots of love,

*lol* I love your incredibly apt two-line assessments of all my friends :) (But... [livejournal.com profile] ixwin was one of the few people there who *wasn't* cross-dressed... unless I missed something ;)

Oh lor, so the conversation turned to *that* story after I left, did it? And apparently there now exists Bushbose fanart... OMG *chortles*

I'm sorry to disappoint, but I don't think anyone is *ever* going to get to read that story - for one thing, it's dispersed all over Cambridge, London, Rothwell, the Isle of Wight and wherever lost pieces of paper go, and for another, it's *immensely* silly and juvenile and I'm not sure we could even face reading it ourselves. Maybe we will post a snippet or two though. (Catriona?)

FYI, the story was not *about* Bushbose the Ent Dog as such - it was in fact a full-blown sequel to LOTR starring ourselves, and Bushbose was one of our Fellowship. As far as I can remember, the others were:

Gandalf (now a tweed-wearing Cambridge professor)
Lalair, a ludicrously camp Wood-Elf, given to singing 'tra-la-la-lally' etc.
    Hvem, a Dwarf
Phred (short for Niphredil) a tomboyish hobbit girl
    Kate, a fearless human reporter
Eleluin, a High Elf, who showed up later after Catriona nixed my idea of having Stephen Fry in the fellowship. :)

[livejournal.com profile] ixwin said that wearing a waistcoat was crossdressing cos she'd never seen a female hobbit in one. so i guess she was half cross dressed, or a third even since her blouse was kind of girly.

your story still sounds swishy. Lalair sounds rather like my favourite roleplay character, Gaian, who is a ranger but he's scared of getting dirty and nasty smells. he also owns daggers specifically for trimming his (already sparse) body hair and holds up every adventure we going by insisting on bathing as frequently as possible.

Bushbose is a terribly cute sounding creature though.
