Any of the above apart from jeans and hiking boots will be fine for the wedding. For the ceilidh, the dress code is "whatever you'll enjoy dancing in" - that could include jeans and hiking boots, though you might feel a little out of place.
If in doubt, consider whether it would shock elderly relatives: if so, don't wear it. But neither of our families are at all posh or image-conscious.
it is so hard to get the balance between wedding formal and suitable for ceilidh. we don't want to be doing a clothing change - although some people might be doing that i guess.
hmmmm. effort! all my wedding outfits are summery ones and i would not want to be walking round edinburgh in march in them!!
oh i am so excited! i can't wait to see you both. it will be top cool.
Depends on how long the day is? I usually go for a clothes change at weddings 'cause I can't stay in a suit for that long and I like drunken dancing at receptions ;-)
and that = effort. and drunken likelihood of forgetting to take your smart clothes home with you. (since reception is right after the wedding in this case.)
I was thinking of wearing a long, purple skirt and a purple weddingy hat and something on my top half. The hat isn't very weatherproof, however, so I won't if it's rainy, windy or worse.
Also, the hem of the skirt is falling apart a bit, so I might wear something completely different.
i am irky cos the skirt i was going to wear i put on last night and found it had burn holes in from LARP. but i doubt anyone would see unless they were specifically looking... but hmmmm.
I am trying to avoid wearing black and so far failing. I will be weaing only one outfit, which I'll try to make suitable for both the wedding and the dance. I will definitely be weaing flat black pumps with straps (good for dancing and fairly smart). I have completely failed to find a skirt that is full enough to suit my taste without being tiered (which is a currently trendy style but would look BAD on me) so I am about to go and make a circle skirt, mostly out of the crimson muslin base tunic I wore for my Roman outfit (the thing I stripped down to for curling on the bed!). With it I will wear either beige or red vest-top and brown beaded cardigan, or black top and long black velvet jacket.
This may all go horribly wrong, in which case it's the dustbin bag with holes in.
i want to do one outfit if i can get away with it. it's such a shame my big full skirt has burn holes. grrr. shoes are going to be a problem i think. oh the pain.
ps, i hope my email didn't offend you or something...

And given that at we'll have people in everything from velvet pantaloons to turqoise fishnets at the ceilidh, wear whatever you want to that. ;)
