since what i sent koozwaa should have arrived by now i can say what it is.
i was looking for Eid cards and one shop had a load of hideous ones with floral decorations all over them. luckily i went in another shop where they had more tasteful ones. but then i found the best one ever. instead of buying one with a serious message on i bought one with a pop-up mosque! haha! it's so cool. i hope he likes. it.

living in Somerset is SO dull. for example, we have a population of approx 500,000. of these a piffling 8000 are not white. over 380,000 people are Christians. (there are approx 1000 Buddhists, 350 Jews, 400 Hindus, 900 Muslims and 100 Sikhs.)

IT IS SO DULL!

i'm not saying that white christians are boring, i'm just saying that the mix of people is boring. and very homogenous. i like to hear people speaking languages other than english!

I can understand what you mean. Where I live I've kind of gotten used to ethnic diversity, and it feels really weird when I go places and everyone is white. In the US, though, immigrants settle in groups, so if you go to a different area there will be a different group of people. In my little town, a lot of people come from Korea, and a lot of the signs for stores and flyers are written in Korean, and all the signs for the churches are either bilingual or Korean alone (I get the feeling that they're a fairly religious group). When I go to where my uncle lives, in northern Virginia, there's a large Guatemalan population, so a good number of the signs are in Spanish. The only problem with this is that to live in your specific neighborhood, it's best to learn the secondary language, but when you go out of the neighborhood it's not very useful... unless you want to vacation in Seoul.
