from [livejournal.com profile] mirabehn:

1. You're on a train from Taunton to Newbury (of course!). In the carriage is just you, and a person that on closer examination you find to your surprise is Sarah Smart. In all seriousness, what would you do?
in all seriousness i'd probably just stare. or if i was having a brave day i'd go up to her and tell her how much i liked her acting and could i have her autograph. or something cheesy. i'm so wussy.

2. You have three wishes. One must be for yourself, one for someone you love, and one for the whole world. What are they?
  • i would wish i could play the cello and piano fantastically well.
  • i'd wish my friend Dan didn't have a strange sinus condition and so could sing nicely, because bless, he loves his band but it must get to him that he can't sing his songs very well.
  • erm, this is hard! could i wish that the whole world was nice to each other? maybe that'd make things boring. i'd want peace, but only if it came about in a natural and sustainable way.

    3. A desert island. You have a lot of food, and there's a fresh water spring. Shelter isn't a problem, and there's nothing poisonous. And, miraculously, you have a first-aid kit, a mooncup, some signalling equipment that will guarantee that someone will turn up at *some point*, a working discman and a solar-powered battery charger. You can take five CDs, four books, three posters, two other items and one person. So - what, and who?
damn that reminds me i have no ordered a mooncup yet. BAD ME!
CDS: Heather Nova - Oyster, Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream, Lemonheads - It's A Shame About Ray, Tara MacLean - Silence, Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
Books: We So Seldom Look On Love - Barbara Gowdy, Like Water For Chocolate - Laura Esquivel, Gormenghast Trilogy - Mervyn Peake, this book i have with lots of pictures of things with all the letters of the alphabet - it was some competition in the 80s where you had to find things in the pictures and some of the things were very complicated, but i don't remember who wrote it. i'll update with it if i remember when i get home.
Posters: Shakira, Johnny Depp, Tomb Raider
Things: my teddy and a nice duvet
Person: eeep! i don't know. someone nice who wants to have sex with me a lot? i'm so naughty.

    4. How do you hope to be spending your birthday this year?
well i'll be in Prague so i hope i'll have found somewhere that does some kind of vegetarian food and cheap drinks and will have spent the day looking at pretty things.

    5. You are to spend a sabbatical year, being hosted by a family or individual in a fictional world or country, and travelling about. Which world/country will you stay in, and who will be your host(s)?
ooooh we're going to see the elves! man, this is a fab question Elly - you're so the best questioner. hmmm, let me see, i'd adore being able to explore the world of Gormenghast but no one there is very nice, not even Fuchsia. oooh i'd LOVE to go to Discworld! i think it'll be that. i'd quite like to stay with Corporal Angua, she seems cool.

now questions from [livejournal.com profile] the_alchemist:

    1. If you could do any course at any university (must be a real one,) what would you do? Money is no object, and don't worry too much about qualifications either.
i am tempted to say animal biology at Birmingham again. because i really did like it, and i know if i did it again i could do it better. and all my friends are in brum. but maybe i should go somewhere exotic? it would be something biological, maybe at a canadian uni - Vancouver probably.

    2. You said in one of your answers to ixwin that you wanted to explore your artistic side. What arty things do you want to do?
paint things. i want to do big splattery oily paintings. and learn to play an instrument (that's not the recorder.)

    3. If money, time, skill etc. were no object, describe the outfit you'd make or have made for yourself for an event during which you'd want to look the bee's knees (e.g. your wedding, Elly's RotK party, waiting at home for Papa Lazarou to call...)
i'd really love a properly good faerie costume, with wings and dress and some kind of tiara/headdress thing. and a LOT of makeup. or else a REALLY gothic vampy thing with corsetry, lots of laces, lots of velvet and lace and some really snazzy boots. or a superkickass pirate/highwayman costume for larp.

    4. If you could pick one of the following, which would you pick, and why?
    - An end to all war
    - An end to all animal cruelty
    - An end to all pollution

it'd be over forever? i'm tempted to say pollution. but perhaps if there was no war people could concentrate on being nice to the environment and we could spend defense budget on recycling and environmental things. however people might start being violent in other ways if there were no wars. damn, i'd say not the animal one though. probably pollution. other things live on the planet and if we fuck it up they will suffer too, whereas mainly we suffer from wars.

    5. If you could pick one of the following, which would you pick, and why?
    - Audrey Tatou's eyes
    - David Bowie's legs
    - Papa Lazarou's swagger

arghhhhh! ok, probably the swagger! it's a damn good swagger. but the eyes are soooooooo beautiful.
