the puzzle piece behind the couch

olinima and i had a themed weekend. it was originally titled 'very very gay' but morphed into 'watch lotr actors playing bitparts in old films'.

we watched:

Hostile Waters
submarine drama with Dominic Monaghan playing a (gay?) Russian submarine dude whose (boy?)friend erm, is very heroic. don't want to spoil anything. it was alright. i like submarine films cos they're one of the only kind of films that scares me. in that 'getting troubled and twitchy rather than scared' way. (the other kind is zombie films.) eee - submarines, high pressure, claustrophobia, wetness... eeee!

Wilde
Orlando Bloom playing a rentboy. he was staring across the road at Oscar looking exactly like he did after he was given his Lorien bow and is sitting in a boat with Gimli! we <3 Orli. much rewinding. tis a good film. *sniffs* poor Oscar. The Selfish Giant! eeeee, makes me cry every time i read it.

Young Guns II
YAY! i'd forgotten how totally cool this film is. i don't usually go in for westerns. but (young) Lou Diamond Phillips - mmmmmmmmmm. Balthazar Getty - mmmmmmmmm. and Viggo Mortensen! with a moustache and weird american accent. and shooting people! EEEEE! and absolutely spiffing music by Jon Bon Jovi. man i love that music. and oooh Lou Diamond Phillips, the hair, the eyes... *drools*

we plan to repeat this, although it might be turning into a big Hugo Weaving fest, with Matrix, Priscilla and Bedrooms & Hallways.

i want a Lij evening! cos i adore The Ice Storm (and Faculty - mmmm Clea) but she wants to get some Karl Urban and David Wenham. oooh i want a Liv evening! and Jo wants a Sean Bean evening. (actually we had one of those - with Caravaggio and Lady Chatterly.) we could do all the Sharpes again and A Woman's Guide To Adultery again. i want more Orli. mmmmmmmmmmm. and i want Miranda Otto.

oh the possibilities.

anyway, we were going to play Icewind Dale together but her network card was misbehaving. and then terrible things happened resulting in near death of her computer. she managed to fix most of it, and we had to play the FOTR PC game. which was most good. scary in part with Dark Riders killing us and Frodo falling down big holes in the Mines of Moria.

koozwaa called us. yay. we played TTT top trumps. i ate a lot of soup and drank a lot of tea.

then the bus to take me home did not stop! despite our waving at it. evil. so i had to wait 2 hours for the next one. feh.

she is having a slashy LOTR party for her birthday and i am going to make a hobbit hole cake. ooooh the excitement.
